Hellmann Overnight Logistics To Implement T@lecom’s Wireless Delivered™ Solution For Overnight Carriers Across Its Entire UK Fleet
Leading overnight carrier Hellmann Overnight Logistics has placed an order to equip its UK fleet of 500 drivers with T@lecom’s Wireless Delivered™ ‘Manifest’ product for overnight carriers. The order follows highly successful live tests at Hellmann’s depots across the country.
Wireless Delivered™ is undoubtedly the most advanced mobile data solution currently available to the transport and logistics industry.
This affordable real-time job control and signature capture system, enables the instant, cost effective transfer of data and delivery information between any back office system and field employee via a handheld device.
Using O2’s XDA handheld system Hellmann’s drivers are able to pick up all their delivery and collection data for the day and it provides instantaneous consignment status and proof of delivery (POD) status information between the driver and Hellmann’s Web Site Gateway. Customers can now independently access the status of their deliveries using Hellmann’s website at anytime.
Wireless Delivered™ includes many innovative features including text to speech, instant messaging and optional integrated satellite navigation and automatic vehicle location. Wireless Delivered™ is partnered with O2 and is in advanced discussions with the other major mobile networks.
The Wireless Delivered™ system is currently being implemented across Hellmann’s UK Distribution Network with the aim of replacing the current paper based system over the next six months. By April 2003, 500 of Hellmann’s drivers across the UK and Ireland will be using the system on a daily basis. Full training is currently being given to individual depots and drivers by Hellman’s IT department to prepare for this structured roll out.
Steve Travis, Director, Hellmann Overnight Logistics, commented: “During extensive tests T@lecom’s ‘Manifest’ solution provided a significant improvement both in terms of the efficiency of our drivers and cost savings. The system also enables our customers to independently access the status of their deliveries at any time and the potential for future use of the systems satellite navigation and tracking facilities is a real plus point. We already had an effective website and Wireless Delivered™ is the final link in the chain.”
Jan O’Hara, CEO for T@lecom commented: “Our ‘Manifest’ application is by far the most advanced and cost-effective, real time proof of delivery system available to the transport and logistics industry. We are delighted that Hellmann Overnight Logistics are implementing our solution across its entire UK fleet and it shows that our solution really provides the transport logistics market system they have long been asking for.”
SteveTravis concluded: “We are delighted to be first carrier to utilise this cost-effective and efficient technology on a nation-wide basis. We are so impressed that the system is currently in trials in Germany.”
