T@lecom wireless solution enhances courier service levels and increases profitability.

Klicka is one of a growing number of courier companies reaping greater commercial gain since investing in T@lecom's Wireless Delivered™ product and becoming committed to the new technology.

The Peterborough-based company is now in the process of equipping every one of its 1000-strong vehicle fleet with the new wireless delivery system after conducting trials with 20 real-time proof of delivery (POD) systems that indicated the significant financial and operational benefits that could be made.

Wireless Delivered™ is one of the most advanced mobile data solutions currently available to the transport and logistics industry. Using a handheld device and a wireless network, it enables affordable real-time job control and signature capture, resulting in the instant, cost effective transfer of data and delivery information between a back office and an employee in the field.

Klicka, which at the time was in the process of establishing a nationwide network of agents, wanted to be able to offer all its customers a faster, more reliable and consistent level of service. It was using manual proof of delivery and although it had tested some of the other wireless POD systems on the market, found they lacked the level of functionality and reliability that was required.

It tested T@lecom's Wireless Delivered™ system after hearing good reports about the product's performance and the company's support infrastructure and says the results were amazing.

The system is extremely stable, reliable and the tracking element has been found to be extremely useful, enabling Klicka to see exactly where any vehicle is at any time. Importantly, the drivers also like it and say it makes their lives easier.

On an operational level, Klicka found the system provides the ability to substantially enhance its service levels, with emails sent automatically to customers within seconds of a package being delivered that confirm time of delivery and the name of the person signing for receipt.

But the greatest benefit has been on the firm's bottom line, where use of the T@lecom system on top of the existing business model has effectively doubled profitability.

Klicka says it expects the system to play a big part in the future of its business as it is rolled out and fully implemented over a three-year period.
