East Kent NHS provide a non emergency patient transport service across the region.  Delivering patients who have limited transport options onto their Hospital appointments. The service is available Monday to Friday between 6am and 10pm.

East Kent NHS took delivery of T@lecom’s Wireless Delivered™ Live system for its entire fleet of vehicles in July 2007. This new system replaced the existing paper based system. The solution was fully integrated into the Hospitals back office ‘Cleric Computer System’ and is run off Vodafone P3600 devices. This new system provides a variety of new features:-

• The location of each transport vehicle being visible every 60 seconds by controllers
• Information/updates is sent and received in ‘real-time’,
• integrated satellite navigation

 These new features provided the hospital the following benefits:-

• Reduced costs due to more efficient processes and lack of paper
• Ability to track every vehicle in real-time
• Faster transportation due to satellite navigation
• Back office Controllers have full control over drivers
• Reduced driver downtime
• Improved image of the service offered
